Eduxtras is a debit card system which provides students with easy access to their bursary funds. It is our bursary management product for students and will make it easy and convenient to manage and budget your bursary funds.
The Eduxtras card has been set up to have four different independent pockets which can only be used at suppliers that are set up for each specific pocket. The pockets are loaded by Eduloan as per instructions from the institutions or your sponsor.
Each pocket contains funds allocated for specific purposes. There is a savings account for all your living expenses, a book allowance pocket, a food allowance pocket and an accommodation pocket. When you make a purchase at a specific supplier, if that supplier is set up with Eduxtras, money will be deducted from your bursary funds and taken out of that specific pocket.
The Pockets
The Eduxtras card gives students access to a savings account, which can be used for expenses that are not covered by the other pockets. The savings account works like any other savings account, where you can deposit and withdraw cash, if there are funds available. There is no monthly fee, only the transactions costs are applicable to this account and are also the lowest on the market.
The book allowance pocket will be loaded with funds allocated for the
purchase of books. There are no associated costs and the debit card can only be used at contracted book shops.
The food allowance pocket can only be used at approved contracted food outlets, and again, there are no associated transactional costs.
The accommodation allowance pocket, also with no associated transaction costs, can only be used at contracted accommodation places as approved by the respective institutions.
